According to news reports, George Clooney who got married to lawyer Amal Alamuddin last year has "a huge fear of becoming irrelevant."

"Amal tells him to stop being ridiculous, but he can't help himself. He's starting to complain about petty stuff, and it's getting old," the insider said. "Amal understands that he's under tremendous pressure, but [she] doesn't want her moment to be dulled by his petulant behavior."

The source goes on to add, "George isn't used to playing second fiddle. He acts as though he's laid-back, but he's very irritable at the moment."

"He never imagined he'd feel overshadowed," added the insider. "Now it happening -- and he's discovered he doesn't like it all."

The couple are already sleeping in separate bedrooms even though they have been married for less than a year.

"[George] has set up master and mistress suites in all his homes," a pal told Life & Style (via the Daily Times Gazette). "[Amal] is a handful, and it can be exhausting for George. He just wants to relax after a long day."

According to OK magazine, George also hired a 'nutrition focused chef' after Amal started losing weight dramatically over the last few months.

"She's gone down another dress size, so now he's decided to take matters into his own hands and hire a new chef," an insider told OK! magazine last week. "He doesn't want her to fade away."

"Amal was taken aback, but she appreciates the help -- she's always been the type to struggle to keep weight on."
