Cleveland Browns Johnny Manziel reportedly threw a water bottle at a badgering fan on Saturday at the AT&T Byron Nelson golf tournament.

A spokesperson for the police in Irving, Texas, James McLellan dismissed the incident as "fairly straightforward, ESPN.com reported. McLellan added that no charges were filed against the quarterback, who did not appear to be "intoxicated." There was also no evidence that Manziel, who completed a rehab program earlier in the year, "had been drinking."

"There was a kid -- I'll call him a kid, he was 18 -- at the pool area," McLellan explained. "The kid had been asking [Manziel] for a couple hours for his autograph, and he wouldn't give it to him. That turned into badgering on the kid's part, and it reached the point where Johnny Manziel threw a bottle of water at the kid. I don't know if it hit him. I guess I would say that ramped it up a bit."

Manziel was at the event hanging out with his friends and did not want to be bothered by fans. The kid allegedly insulted Manziel after the quarterback refused the fan's 10 requests for a photo. Manziel's friend stated that the kid said stuff such as, "Ryan Tannehill is way better than you," and "Good luck never starting in the NFL."

After Manziel threw the 32-ounce water bottle, which was about three-quarters full, the athlete's friend got in between Manziel and the kid, and shoved the kid aside. Hotel security and police officers then stepped in to prevent the situation from escalating. An eyewitness told the police that the bottle hit the wall.

The Browns stated that they would not comment on this situation. They revealed that the young quarterback called them on Saturday night to explain what happened.
