Android 'M', the mobile operating system's next avatar which was announced by Google at its I/O 2015 developer conference, promises a major detour from Lollipop.

According to Christian Science Monitor, the new version of Android will be notable for its improved security and functioning rather than the drastic visual change its predecessor brought. Google Now is set for expansion even as Android Pay, a successor to Google Wallet will be part of the new OS.

Google Now on Android 6.0 will make information drawn from thirty-party apps available in text messages and during other instances when users tap for it. Security on the other hand is expected to be boosted through support for fingerprint sensors and selective permissions in apps to allow users select which faculty of the phone an app can use. Android users now will have to nod to everything an app demands to run on phones.

Users can also expect inclusion of a 'doze' feature that puts the phone into low-power mode when it remains unused for a while. Support for USB C type connectors that help phones charge five times faster than micro-USB are on the anvil. Not to forget the impact success of Apple Pay has had, Google has developed Android Pay to allow users to simply tap their phones at counters without an app.
