A new iOS bug has emerged recently that lets iPhone users crash another person's iPhone by simply sending a text message. The text message will crash the receiver's phone when received while in lock screen mode.

The bug is only effective when there is iPhone to iPhone communication.

The bug was first discussed on a Reddit thread.

"I just received this message in a group text and it actually turned my phone off:

effective. Power لُلُصّبُلُلصّبُررً ॣ ॣh ॣ ॣ 冗

Send that to someone with an iPhone it turns their phone off," read the message posted by a Reddit user aus10_t8um.

Other users confirmed the bug by agreeing that their device restarted because they received this message.

How to fix

To fix the crashing messaging app, users can send a message to their own phone via Siri. They can also send a picture via the Photos app. Sending a message to the original sender will also fix the messages app from crashing.
