San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick Apologizes over Insensitive Tweet about Houston Flooding

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has issued an apology over his insensitive tweet about the flooding in Houston. Kaepernick deleted his post, which was also uploaded onto Instagram,

Kaepernick posted a picture of cars submerged in water in Houston with the caption, "I warned you the #7torms Coming!!! #Houston." Kaepernick, who wears the number seven, and the 49ers are headed to Houston on Aug. 15 for their first preseason game. The hashtag is believed to be referencing Kapernick's improvement in the offseason.

The quarterback later deleted the post and tweeted, "No disrespect intended! Prayers up!" Two hours later, Kaepernick tweeted a more detailed apology that stated, "I'm so sorry about my insensitive post earlier today. I didn't fully understand how many people are struggling in Houston right now and I feel horrible. My prayers are with everyone there."

Russell Wilson, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, also tweeted out his support for Houston.

The Houston area and Central Texas have been dealing with severe weather over the past few days. The rain, with roughly 11 inches falling on Monday night, has led to massive floods as well as casualties with many people still unaccounted for. The storms have also destroyed and damaged hundreds of homes, leaving residents stranded.

Kaepernick has almost 1.3 million followers on Instagram and about 755,000 on Twitter.
