It's an accepted trend that after every subsequent iOS update, older iPhones and iPads will get slower. However, this is going to change with iOS 9, as the new version of Apple's mobile operating system is aimed at improving performance and stability, especially on older iOS devices.

According to a report by 9to5mac, the key focuses of the upcoming iOS 9 update will be optimizations for older devices. The report noted that the Cupertino-based tech giant is "building a core version of iOS 9 that runs efficiently on older A5 devices, then enabling each properly performing feature one-by-one."

As a result, devices powered by Apple's A5 processors, i.e., iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the original iPad Mini will not only get the iOS i update but will also improve the user experience.

"I wouldn't say there's nothing new for consumers, but the feature lists are more stripped down than the initial plans called for," a source told 9to5mac.

iOS 9 is also expected to ship with split-screen iPad app views and an improved Apple Maps application. In the new feature-list, Trusted Wi-Fi and Rootless security are also going to join.

For now we can anticipate that iOS 9 is going to breathe new life into our old Apple devices. However, everything will be more clear in the upcoming WWDC, Apple's annual developer conference this week.
