Oculus VR has no plans to prevent the adult entertainment industry from using its Rift virtual reality headset, according to a recent report. The virtual reality headset is set to launch as a consumer product in the first quarter of 2016.

"The rift is an open platform. We don't control what software can run on it, and that's a big deal," said Oculus founder Palmer Luckey at the first Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Conference in San Jose, Calif., on Monday, Variety reported. This was in response to a question about the potential X-rated content, such as pornographic games, 3D porn movies and other VR sex apps.

The response from Oculus founder is surprising given the Facebook is tends to get prudish when it comes to pornography, nudity, breastfeeding photos, or even post-mastectomy tattoo photos on its website.

However, Oculus will control the apps that will be distributed through the Oculus Store whose terms of service prohibit pornographic content.

Facebook acquired Oculus last year for about $2 billion.
