Chandler Parsons does not need a healthy knee to recruit players.

According to the Dallas Mavericks small forward, he is more than ready to start recruiting future teammates. Parsons, who is nursing a knee injury, stated that he is "shifting into GM mode."

"I think it's kind of like a known thing that I'd like to do that," Parsons said according to Eddie Serko with The Dallas Morning News. "I have a lot of good relationships with a lot of guys. Obviously now with the season just ended, I haven't talked with them about who or what or whatever, but we'll take a look here soon. I'll be in Dallas pretty much all summer, so I'm sure we'll have those conversations when the time comes."

Parsons supposedly had a huge role in helping the Houston Rockets recruit center Dwight Howard. It is not considered tampering when players from different teams talk to one another, even if the discussions are related to recruitment.

When asked what his pitch will be, Parsons stated:

"We have a great organization. We have high expectations. We have the best owner in sports," Parsons said. "We're definitely moving in the right direction, and we have a lot of pieces that would fit well with the free agents out there right now. And we have a great coach, so I think we're moving in the right direction. We're a championship-caliber team. We've just got to get the right pieces. I have great relationships with a lot of guys that are out there."

Parsons, who joined the Mavericks before the start of the 2014 season, averaged 15.7 points with 2.4 assists and 4.9 rebounds. He suffered a knee injury toward the end of the regular season. Parsons tried to play in Game 1 of the Western Conference quarterfinals against the Houston Rockets but his knee continued to pose a problem.

Parsons did not play in the rest of the series, which the Rockets won 4-1. He underwent knee surgery last week to repair the cartilage in his right knee. The current timetable for his return to basketball activities is unknown.

Parsons signed a three-year deal worth $46 million with the Mavericks after playing three seasons with the Rockets, who selected him in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft.
