Last year, the Oxford English Dictionary added the word 'Vape', meaning to inhale and exhale the vapour produced by an electronic cigarette. This year the word 'Selfie' was added to the dictionary.

The Oxford English Dictionary now considers adding the word 'Mx' in the next edition, to represent transgender people and those who don't identify by gender.

The word 'Mx', pronounced as "mux", will be an alternative to the traditional Miss, Mrs, Ms and Mr.

The Swedish English Dictionary added the word 'hon' as an alternative to the male 'han' and the female 'hen'.

Jonathan Dent, assistant editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, told the Sunday Times, "the gender neutral title will be considered for inclusion in the dictionary's next edition".

Jonathan Dent also said that it would be the first stable of honorific's to be accepted in recent history.
