In the US, skin cancer affects one million, according to clevelandclinic. Skin cancer is said to be the most common form of the illness in the US.

To fight it, you have to take some simple measures when you go out into the sun---use sunscreen, stay in the shade, wear sunglasses and long dresses to cover your arms and legs.

Doctors from the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) have issued a note to warn everyone that the erratic British weather could just mean that people are not guarding their skins against the sun's harmful rays, according to bbc.

Dermatologist Dr Walayat Hussain explains that you should check your skin completely to stop skin cancer from striking.

One survey of 1,018 people taken last summer is being published in Sun Awareness Week. Today, it is discovered that skin cancer leads to 2,100 deaths every year in the UK.

According to BAD, while 95% of people surveyed expressed concern that the disease was spreading and increasing, they were not aware that it had a link with sunburn.

Hence, BAD has taken a move to educate the public about skin cancer and teach them to protect their skin.

Since the 1960s, cheaper foreign holidays and outdoor activities seems to have led to the rising incidence of skin cancer. Hence, over 250,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed each year, along with 13,000 new cases of melanoma.

About 85% of people are concerned that the weather might lead to the disease. While 40% agreed that they never check their skin for the disease, 77% do not feel confident that they could recognise melanoma on the skin. Also, 81% think they would not be able to identify even a "non-melanoma skin cancer".
