There are some strange obsessions around the world. Sample this---the cost of kidneys in Iran, prostitutes in Ukraine and rhinoplasty in S. Korea are the most searched-for items in the respective countries!

The most-searched for things in every country was put up by Fixr.com,  website. It just used the autocomplete formula of "How much does * cost in [x country]."

The results are as ridiculous as interesting.

The Americans seem to want patents most of all---surely, you will know why, as you live in that country----but why do the Japanese want watermelons so much?

A state-by-state survey by fixr in the US showed more interesting results: facelift, breast implant, water, nanny, minor...

The holy cow seems much in demand in India and Bangladesh, while camels are wanted in Egypt, Israel and Afghanistan, and McDonald's is coveted in Serbia.

"Looking at some of the most popular Google searches throughout the World reveals some cultural differences, but also many key similarities. It also provides insights into the sometimes strange things people think about when they are alone," says fixr.com website.

Here are a few: Russians are most interested in "How much does it cost to fly a MiG [military aircraft] in Russia?"

Apple's biggest iPhone market, China, wants that trendy item. Prostitutes are in high demand in Brazil, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Colombia and Latvia. Slaves are a high demand in Mauritania. Honduras, Chile and Taiwan are hooked on cocaine.

Weddings in Cyprus and Greece, honeymoons in Maldives funerals in Ireland and divorces in Trinidad and Tobago are the favourites.

However, you could rest assured that the results are not scientific---just a curiosity. Google autocomplete results bank on the searcher's history, time and place of search.
