"Fifty Shades Darker," the sequel to the highly successful movie, "Fifty Shades of Grey," will take on a much darker theme.

Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley revealed that the second installment will be "more of a thriller." In the second movie, Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) goes deeper into the sexual world of BDSM that was introduced to her by love interest, billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).

During the Q&A event at The Hollywood Reporter's ninth annual Power Lawyers breakfast, Langley also talked about rumors that there was tension between director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who left the project and author, E.L. James.

"For the record, the movie we ended up making is exactly the movie I wanted to make and that the studio wanted to make and that our director wanted to make," Langley clarified, reported by THR.

Universal has not revealed who will direct "Fifty Shades Darker." However, the company did announce that James's husband, Niall Leonard will write the script. According to Langley, Leonard wrote a draft for the first movie and "did a really good job."

Although the production for the second movie in the trilogy has not started, a 30 second teaser trailer was released. The trailer was featured on the Blu-ray release for "Fifty Shades of Grey," which comes out on May 8. In the short clip, Grey puts on a black masquerade mask.
