Stephen Hawking's ideas are spaced out, but he seems very grounded.

Take what he said at the end of a lecture at the Sydney Opera House, in which he encouraged his audience to "look at up at the stars and not down at your feet", according to theindependent.

"We must continue to go into space for the future of humanity," Hawking said. "I don't think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet."

During one his two lectures, he talked to the mesmerized audience through holographic technology from his Cambridge office.

He started the lecture with light banter, according to press-TV: "Although I would love to be there in person," he said during his opening speech to the audience, "the idea of being the first person to appear as a hologram at the stage at the Opera House was too good an offer to refuse."

By the end of his talk, he added: "look at up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes a universe exist," he said. "Be curious, and however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up."

Repeatedly, he has warned about the dangers faced by the human race due to the rise of artificial intelligence, as well as the dangers of aggression and barbarity among the races.

He warned that artificial intelligence "could spell the end of the human race".

Even last February, he had warned that colonizing other planets was like "life insurance" for humans, in order to ensure that humanity lives on.

One of the questions asked to him was about the "cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world". Hawking explained that in a parallel universe Zayn was part of the band, whereas in another, he was "married" to the woman who had asked the question.

He finally said: "beam me up Scotty!" His digital image created with two cameras processing the video and then showing it on special technology at the opera house vanished.
