Bobbi Kristina Brown Update: Father Files for Guardianship of her Estate

Bobby Brown has reportedly filed for guardianship of his daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown's estate, multiple media reports confirmed.

"He's her father," a source said according to the New York Daily News. "He has the power to make medical decisions only."

Brown, 65, is not the executor of Bobbi Kristina's estate.

"Bobby is Krissy's father. He only wants what's best for her," a Brown source told PEOPLE. "This is not about him taking her money - he has money of his own. This is about making sure that she will have the best care for as long as she needs ... The truth is that he wants to get her the best care she can possibly get, that's all."

Bobbi Kristina remains in the hospital after she was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her home almost three months ago. The 22-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston was reportedly taken out of her medically induced coma. However, her grandmother, Cissy Houston, revealed that Bobbi Kristina suffered from irreversible brain damage.

Houston released this statement about Bobbi Kristina's estate: "This is a family matter involving sensitive information. We hope to resolve this in a manner that is respectful of Bobbi Kristina's sensitive health information. The Houston family has always looked out for the best interest of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The family has done so all of her life and will continue to do so. We trust that others have the same objective."

If the court grants Brown guardianship, he will have power over Bobbi Kristina's finances. Bobbi Kristina's wealth is currently unknown. She was supposed to receive 10 percent of her mother's estate last year, but sources stated that the 10 percent was never paid.

A source added, "It was modified, and with good reason."

As per Whitney's will, Bobbi Kristina is supposed to receive another portion of her inheritance when she turns 25 and the majority of her trust at 30.

The police in Roswell, Georgia have opened a criminal investigation with the goal of determining how Bobbi Kristina ended up in her bathtub.
