Tim Duncan might be the oldest guy in the playoffs but he surely does not play like one.

In Wednesday night's Game 2 between the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers, Duncan, who turns 39 in a few days, scored 28 points and made some very smart moves to help the Spurs tie the series at one game apiece.

"He [Duncan] was spectacular," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "He continues to amaze me with the things that he is able to do. He knows he had to stay on the court and he figured out a way to do it. He continued to be aggressive, which is pretty amazing."

Duncan, however, did not think he played his best, especially in the fourth quarter when he went one-for-five.

Duncan said, "I was awful. I missed two or three layups, I made two or three defensive mistakes, got out of position and gave up dunks to DeAndre [Jordan]."

Despite his poor performance, Duncan stepped up his game during overtime when the Spurs did not have Tony Parker, who was sidelined due to a right Achilles' injury and Manu Ginobili, who was fouled out. The Spurs managed to outscore the Clippers and won 111-107.

"They're a team that's not going to beat themselves, you've got to go out there and beat them. You've got to take it." Clippers point guard Chris Paul said afterward of the Spurs. "I missed a shot I should have made to win the game."

Duncan also made history. According to Basketball Reference, Game 2 was "Duncan's 100th career 20/10 playoff game." Duncan also scored his 5000th career playoff point and is now one out of five NBA players to reach that number in the postseason, Jordan Howenstine reported.

"Seeing the team play like this today was very important," Ginobili said. "Hopefully we bring the same sense of urgency, the same fire and juice, for Game 3."

The Spurs and the Clippers are the only teams that have split the first two games in the first round of playoff play.

The Spurs will host the Clippers in Game 3 on Friday, April 24 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
