The new kid on the block is cheese. If you want to eat to lose weight, you could eat more cheese, says a new scientific study by scientists from the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University, according to independent.co.

Parmesan cheese is an exciting form of the food, that adds only 22 calories and 1 gram of fat per tablespoon. It helps you to manage your weight due to its calcium content. It is also full of protein, which can help the body to metabolize fat. Being a low-lactose food, even those who are sensitive to dairy products may be able to eat it, according to forbes.

The Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry published a study this month that discussed the importance of what researchers call "cheese metabolism". They compared urine and faecal samples from 15 different men, who consumed a diet that contained milk and cheese or butter, but no other dairy products for two weeks.

It was a quick test partially funded by the Danish Dairy Research Foundation. It discovered that the cheese or milk eaters showed a "different composition of bacteria in their gut".

The cheese-eating group showed higher levels of butyrate, which was an anti-inflammatory fatty acid to speed the energy production. It helped to improve metabolism, maintain body fat percentages and prevent obesity, according to an American Diabetes Association study in 2009.

Still, it's better not to rush to gorge yourself on cheese---yet. The "French paradox" is due to the balanced diet of the French, rather than a decision to eat cheese.
