The Los Angeles Lakers are ready to put this dismal season behind them and focus toward rebuilding the team.

According to the latest rumors, the Lakers have Rajon Rondo locked for next year. Rondo, who was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Dallas Mavericks this season, will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

ESPN's Max Kellerman said reported by Latin Post, "When I first heard that Rondo was coming to L.A., which he is, it was about a month ago and a friend of mine who knows, who is in the business, said it is a mortal lock that the Lakers will sign Rajon Rondo. I'm not going to mention his name, but it is a very reliable source who has his ear to the ground."

Rondo has been linked to the Lakers for some time now. The rumors that the point guard would be headed to L.A. heated up when Rondo was seen with Lakers star, Kobe Bryant. Since then, Bryant has been very vocal about getting Rondo to L.A.

Rondo is recovering from a minor knee injury that he sustained on Saturday. During that game against the Golden State Warriors, Rondo hyperextended his left knee. Rondo is listed as day-to-day and practiced this past Tuesday.

In this season, Rondo is averaging 8.8 points with 7.9 assists and 5.6 rebounds.

The Lakers have enough money to sign Rondo with Steve Nash retiring and Jeremy Lin hitting the free agent market.

Lin, whose short time with the Lakers' did not work out as planned, is rumored to be headed for the Mavericks. According to Mark Followil, reported by Master Herald, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is a fan of Lin and hopes to bring him over. Cuban, however, has not commented on this report. If Lin does end up in Dallas, he will reunite with his former New York Knicks teammate, Tyson Chandler.

Lin averages 11.2 points, 4.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.
