Salesforce.com has acquired Toopher - developer of a mobile two-factor authentication app that leverages location-awareness.

Toopher announced that it will no longer sell its current products and it's "thrilled to join Salesforce, where we'll work on delivering the Toopher vision on a much larger scale as part of the world's #1 Cloud Platform."

Salesforce spokeswoman confirmed the purchase but the financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Toopher website is also inaccessible, except for the notice announcing the acquisition.

Toopher app, available for both iOS and Android, needs to be paired with the service. The app lets users automatically authenticate from safe locations like the home or work but when a request comes from new or unrecognized location, user receives a notification from Toopher app.

"Toopher is the only solution that lets you automate that second step from safe locations like your home or office, so now you're only bothered when a login is out of the ordinary -- like when you're in a new location or being hacked," says the description of the app on iTunes and Google Play store.

For Salesforce, providing security to mobile users is vital as it extends its services to newer devices. The company has already announced its availability on Apple Watch. Besides, the firm is also offering its mobile analytics platform and a developer pack for third-party developers to build enterprise apps that connect to the Salesforce1 platform.
