Jaguar has launched a new redesigned 2016 XF sedan, featuring an aluminum-intensive technology and boasting increased interior room with a host of high-technology safety and entertainment features.

The company said the car is "the brand's most comprehensive suite of advanced performance, driver assistance and infotainment technology."

The pricing are expected to be announced closer to launch.

Notably, last year, sales of XF fell 26 percent to 5,880 vehicles.

The new XF will be available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive and a choice of two supercharged V-6 engines.

"In creating the all-new XF, as a design team we have been driven by discipline, the discipline of simplicity. Every exterior line on the XF has a clear purpose -- nothing is superfluous," said Ian Callum, Jaguar's director of design. "Achieving that simplicity takes time and requires great determination. It's all too easy to add lines to a car, but much harder to add character by leaving lines out."

The XF will be available with two infotainment systems. A standard system uses Jaguar's 8-inch touchscreen. A new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system will use a 10.2-inch screen without any buttons on the side.

The sedan also rocks a stereo front camera which is used by lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist systems.

Other available systems of XF include drowsiness monitoring, traffic sign recognition, a laser head-up display, improved adaptive cruise control that can track the vehicle in front, closing vehicle sensing and reverse traffic detection, and semi-automated park assist.
