Amy's Kitchen has recalled close to 74,000 cases of pre-packaged food made between January 19 and March 14.

The company announced the recall while stating that one of its spinach suppliers informed about possible contamination with Listeria Monocytogenes, a bacterium which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections mainly in children and elderly. The company declared it did not get any complaints of contamination from its customers the company and was issuing the recall voluntarily.

"Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women," the company said.

"The recalled products were distributed to stores nationwide in the United States and in Canada. Amy's Kitchen has notified its distributors and retailers and is taking this voluntary action as a precautionary measure. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration," it added in a press release.

Amy's urged its consumers to dispose off food if found on the list of items it has recalled.

Among the foods with possible contamination are Vegetable Lasagna, Spinach Pizza, Brown Rice & Vegetables Bowl, and Gluten Free Tofu Scramble Breakfast Wrap.
