The name is not Violet!

Actor Ryan Reynolds, 38, has confirmed that he and his wife, Blake Lively, 27, chose the name James for their baby girl. Reynolds recently sat down with TODAY's Willie Geist to discuss his upcoming film, "Woman in Gold."

During the interview, Geist brought up the subject of Reynold's daughter's name, which has been kept a secret for about three months.

Geist said, "You did say a few months ago, before she was born, that you were going to name her Excalibur Anaconda Reynolds. So can we call her Anna at least - short for Anaconda?"

"That is not the child's name. It's Butternut Summersquash," the actor joked before stating, "It's out there. It's James. Everyone knows."

Reynolds explained why he did not want to announce his daughter's name immediately to the public.

He said, "I didn't want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media. Because as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives and go, 'Why did you do that?'"

Reynolds has previously stated to David Letterman in February that the kid's name will come out eventually. He said, "I threw out the idea of just never naming the kid to be totally original, but we have a name. I just don't want to say it in, like, a media context. I tell everyone who I meet, so it'll come out."

Although James is often viewed as a male's name, it has actually been used for both boys and girls. Actress and former model Jaime King used to go by James.

Lively met Reynolds when they worked together on the superhero film, "Green Lantern" in early 2010. They were first linked together in October 2011 and in June 2012, they reportedly bought a home in Bedford, NY.

The couple was married on September 9, 2012 and welcomed their first child in December 2014.
