The Kansas City Chiefs have begun the season 0-2 and lost one of the best linebackers in football, Derrick Johnson, during Week 1. In addition, they also had two more injuries during their first game. So, the last thing the Chiefs needed was more bad news. However, that's exactly what they got.

Two of the Chiefs star players, running back Jamaal Charles and safety Eric Berry were hurt during Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

Berry suffered a sprained ankle in the 24-17 loss, while Charles has a high ankle sprain, head coach Andy Reid said according to the Kansas City Star.

On Charles' injury Reid said, "It doesn't look to be a real severe one but it does have the component of a high ankle sprain. What does that mean? We'll see."

Although Charles hasn't put up astounding numbers this season - 19 yards on seven attempts in the Chiefs' first game and four yards on the two attempts he had in their second game - he is arguably the most important piece of the team's offense.

Last season he rushed for 1,287 yards on 259 attempts through 15 games. He also ran for 12 touchdowns. Charles added 693 receiving yards last season with 70 receptions and seven receiving touchdowns.

"Everything is magnified down there,'' Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith said according to ESPN. "It hurts to have him out.''

The Chiefs running game was led by Knile Davis on Sunday. Davis ran for 79 yards and scored two touchdowns on 22 carries. One of the team's other running backs, 21-year-old rookie De'Anthony Davis, missed the first two games because of a hamstring injury, but could be in the lineup in Week 3.

During Week 1 the team lost three player's for the season. Johnson tore his Achilles tendon as did defensive end Mike DeVito. Offensive lineman Jeff Allen needs season ending surgery after he tore a tendon in his bicep.

The Chiefs are at the Miami Dolphins this coming Sunday for a 4:25 p.m. ET game. The Dolphins are 1-1 this season.
