There were probably two predominant feelings after Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) broke up in Season 3. Either you were sad to see the fun-loving couple apart or you were happy because their relationship was drawing out way too long.

Whatever you may feel, according to TV Line, we won't be getting any Nick/Jess this season.

"I think [showrunner] Liz Meriwether wants more fun between them. I think she doesn't want it to feel heavy anymore, [with] them getting together and fighting," Johnson told TVLine of Nick and Jess. "I think she wants to bring back the kind of fun of Season 1."

Since Jess will be moving on from Nick this season we can expect her to get back out into the dating world. Unfortunately, one of the first guys she's interested in also has another suitor, so-to-speak.

Reid Scott will play the best man at a wedding and while Jess is trying to make her move, so is Jessica Biel's Kat.

"Jess decides to go after the best man and she's nervous about it because he's the wedding celebrity," show creator and executive producer Liz Meriwether tells Entertainment Weekly. "She's, in her weird way, doing pretty well with him and then Jessica Biel comes on the scene and starts to also hit on him. It's the two of them competing over this guy and Jess doesn't have a lot of moves."

In a sneak peek of Jess and Kat's duel, you can see that Kat is slightly intimidating.

EW reports Jess will also have a romantic interest this season in new teacher Ryan, played by Julian Morris ("Pretty Little Liars", "Once Upon a Time").

As for Nick, according to to TV Line, he'll be very interested in the loft's new landline phone.

"He gets really excited about it," Johnson said. "I start taking messages for Schmidt and Winston, kind of like a secretary."

Season 4 of "New Girl" premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on FOX.
