The New York Yankees seem to be always upset at Alex Rodriguez.

According to multiple media reports, the Yankees were not too happy when A-Rod arrived to spring training three days early without any notice. The organization had expected Rodriguez to show up on Wednesday, which was the date designated for position players to report to Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

Instead, Rodriguez arrived Monday in a green University of Miami workout suit. Since he told no one of his plans, the team's media relations staff and Brian Cashman had to quickly account for his presence. Cashman reportedly found out from two reporters Monday morning.

"He's learned nothing," said one baseball executive reported by the New York Daily News. "He's the same old guy. He just did what he wanted to do."

A source stated that Rodriguez was only planning to work out at the complex, which is something he used to do in the past. During those times, he never alerted the team either.

Upon arrival, the Yankees requested Rodriguez to get his spring physical first, which he agreed to immediately. Rodriguez headed to get his checkup at 11:30. At around 12:45, Rodriguez was seen heading over to the complex to work out. He worked out from 1:30 to 2:30.

Rodriguez has a long way to go to earn the Yankees' respect back after serving the longest drug-related suspension in the history of baseball. Although Rodriguez has stated that he wished he could have done things differently, he is more focused on moving forward.

"I cringe sometimes when I look at some of the things I did, but I paid my penalty and I'm grateful that I have another opportunity," Rodriguez said reporters outside of the team's minor-league complex. "No mistake that I've made has any good answer or a justification. It's unexplainable and that's on me. I've dug a big hole for myself and paid a price. I'm fortunate for a lot of people - especially the Commissioner's office, the players union and the Yankees - to give me an opportunity to play the game that I love."

Rodriguez has three years and $61 million left on his contract. He can also make an additional $30 million if he makes any home run milestones.

"I love to compete," he said. "I'm here a couple days early to get a jump start. I love baseball. I just love to be in uniform and I'm so grateful to have an opportunity to be back in uniform."
