Wait for just two years, same-sex couples, and you could have your own biological children!

A mindblowing stem cell research breakthrough by researchers at Cambridge University and Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science shows that a baby can be created from the skin cells of homosexual parents, according to gaystarnews.com.

Human egg and sperm cells can be created from the stem cells of the skins of two adults. The scientists have taken stem cell lines from embryos as well as the skins of five different adults. Ten donor sources have been used till now and new germ-cell lines have been created from all the sources.

The astonishing result shows that there is the possibility of having the "first fully manufactured" baby in a laboratory dish.

Although there are a lot of possibilities of ethical issues creating concern, experts also says that people who had become infertile through disease can get solutions. It has also drawn some interest from gay people, according to thesundaytimes.co

It was a team that was sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, whose results were compared with engineered stem cells that had human cells taken from foetuses, which ensured that they had features that were identical.

Azim Surani, leader of the project, told The Sunday Times: "We have succeeded in the first and most important step of this process, which is to show we can make these very early human stem cells in a dish. We have also discovered that one of the things that happens in these germ cells is that epigenetic mutations, the cell mistakes that occur with age, are wiped out."

"It has already caused interest from gay groups because of the possibility of making egg and sperm cells from parents of the same sex," added the head of Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science, Jacob Hanna.

Of late, MPs have cast their votes to support the creation of babies that had DNA drawn from two women and one man, according to pinknews.com.
