‘No New Deals’: Donald Trump Promised When Inaugurated US President; Will He Really Let Go Of His Vast Business Empire?

Ethical issues and conflict of interest are among the things that come when businessman Donald Trump becomes the next US President. Although, "no new deals" will be made in his period for the presidency.

The business tycoon who owns several companies ranging from hotels, golf course, real estate, and intellectual property rights among others built an empire of his own. Now that elected, he deemed it high time to leave it to the hands of his children and other executives. The possibility of the "no new deals" still not guaranteed by the incoming US President.

Constitutional Sanctions

The provision of the US Constitution states "no person holding any office of profit or trust under them shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state". However, Federal Ethics Law does not implicate the US President of the country directly.

In the light of the provision, the foreign investments where Trump endowed such as the hotels is a direct violation. Last November, the report states that foreign diplomats are planning on numerous visits, and possibly asking for favors and breach incoming US President Donald Trump's promise for "no new deals"

Presidential Transition

Amidst the conflicting interest between business and the presidential transition, Donald Trump canceled the scheduled press conference on his final decision on how he will handle his business empire when he becomes the US President.

Hitting the "no new deal" on his twitter account, the US President-elect also expressed that it takes time picking up the right people for his cabinet. Building such group of people is an essential process for him to offer a strong government. One is his appointment to hold Department of Defense is Retired General James Mattis giving him a rolling eyeball from critics.

Donald Trump promised that on his US President term he said, "discuss the fact that I will be leaving my great business in total in order to fully focus on running the country." Other arising controversies are on its way and he will have to face it one by one.
