The first season of HBO's sci-fi drama "Westworld" had its puzzling finale last Sunday night. Titled "The Bicameral Mind," the concluding episode's strength relied on the emotional and dramatic engagement it elicited from viewers. It also served as an expository tool for what will happen in Season 2.

According to "Westworld" director Jonathan Nolan, the second season will see the reign of chaos following the controlled atmosphere explored by the previous season. Maeve's rebellion was planned but fans failed to predict that Ford was manufacturing it in order to free the hosts and bring them to a self-aware state.

The season one finale of "Westworld" marked the start of Maeve's rebellion. The episode gave the Man in Black an important narrative with real stakes. For most directors, control is a very tough and very tricky theme to handle.

Meanwhile, fans of "Westworld" are speculating if Anthony Hopkins' Robert Ford will return in season 2 after Dolores killed Ford  in the final episode. There are several theories that his return to the show could materialize. They are really interesting and mind-blowing.

One theory posits the dead Ford as a host. It surmises that Hopkins' Ford created a twin to take the bullet for him. It does not support the idea that Ford could send another host to death for selfish purposes.

Another theory believes that Ford downloaded his brain into a Ford-host during the season finale of "Westworld". It highlights Ford's admiration of the hosts as better, purer species. It speculates that Ford might side with the hosts in their rebellion.

Season 2 of "Westworld" has no official release date yet. Nolan hinted that the sequel will not air until 2018. Speculations and rumors will surely dominate internet forums as fans wait for the second offering from HBO.
