Originally shown four decades ago, fans of the Rocky film franchise have another cause for celebration with the release of a new mobile game. As part of the 40th anniversary, Rocky game will be available as a free download.

Created by Tapinator, working in collaboration with MGM Interactive, the app is titled simply as "Rocky." With more than 250 mobile games to their credit, Tapinator generally releases titles in the Sports, Arcade, and Simulation genres. It has also released Casino and Role-Playing games.

In this mobile game, players build the career of their fighter and much like the Rocky film franchise, get to face various opponents from Apollo Creed and all the way to Ivan "I Must Break You" Drago. The game itself boasts of a total of 37 fighters that can be unlocked. Players can also fight with other players around the world in PvP matches.

For Rocky's game mechanics, attacking opponents or blocking their punches is done through tapping a moving bar that is found at the screen's lower portion, also known as Time Tap Fighting. In an interview, Tapinator CEO Ilya Nikolayev revealed that the team knew it was important to get the action correctly for the mobile game mainly as respect to this well-loved film.

While fighting with other boxers does help players move their characters forward, that is not all there is to the mobile game. Players who think their character is not yet ready to duke it out, they can always head to the gym where the training will be led by none other than Rocky's trainer Mickey Goldmill. The gym allows players to enhance different statistics that include Strength, Intelligence, Dexterity, Endurance, and even Technique.

In addition to the familiar scene and faces, fans of the Rocky films will also feel nostalgic especially with the music. However, this game will be suitable even for those who are not familiar with the franchise. Already released for the iOS, Rocky Android version is scheduled to come out in the early part of 2017.
