The Bank of England is now under the spotlight as it has been discovered that the new plastic £5 notes is produced by using animal fat. They are now forced to remedy the situation and think of other options for producing the notes.

It Has Been Discovered That £5 Notes Have Been Using Animal Fat In Production

Just recently, it has been discovered that the supplier of £5 notes has been using what is called tallow in producing the notes. According to a statement made by the Bank of England, they are not aware of the use of animal fat to which their supplier is to be held responsible. Nevertheless, they are taking into serious consideration the concerns of the citizens and assured them that they will provide necessary actions to solve the matter.

Supplier Of Notes Assures Bank To Be Looking For Other Options Instead Of Using Tallow

The bank also stated in the statement that its supplier, Innovia is now looking for potential solutions regarding the matter. The issue was addressed by vegans and vegetarians who campaigned the complaint against the use of animal fat in the process of producing the notes. They started a petition to have the changes made by the supplier, to which they got over 110,000 signatures for the movement.

The Bank And The Citizens Shall Be Kept Up To Date In The Solutions To Be Provided In Addressing The Matter

According to the Bank of England, Innovia has responded to the concerns and said that only an extremely small amount of tallow and that the substance is used only in the early stage of the production process of the polymer pellets. Their supplier of the notes is now working closely with its supply chain and has assured the Bank of England that they will be kept up to date with the progress they have made with the changes and solutions to the matter. In a statement made by the CEO of The Vegetarian Society, the central bank had been responsive to them and their concerns, assuring the public that this shall be addressed with the utmost efforts.
