Showtime's number one political thriller "Homeland" has been making fans bite their nails on every exciting move the agents are doing to save America and defeating terrorist threats around the world. The upcoming season 6 of the series would be expected to discuss historically important and close to reality political events.

The Emmy-award winning series bring back Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) but in a different destination that she had before. At the end of Season 5, she neutralized a terrorist threat in Berlin, Germany and returned to US.

In the new season, she is now living in New York and running a foundation in order to help Muslims who are living in US. In the teaser of the new season released November 4, it is hinted that she quit her job in CIA to run a law firm that mainly focus on wrongly convicted Muslims.

Season 6 will also focus on the presidential election. The entire season will portray time between the election and the presidential inauguration, making it look like the writers are trying to make parallelism on Donald Trump's victory in US.

It would also deal with the transfer of power of one president to another. It could be very dangerous so high class agents are asked to help in the safe transition between two presidents.

Danes, Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham, Many Patinkin, Elizabeth Marvel and others would return for the season 6 of Homeland. The series is based from Israeli series called Prisoners of War or Hatufim in Hebrew, literally means Abductees.

Homeland has also been critically acclaimed since its first season. The show was nominated for numerous Emmy awards, including best drama, best direction, best writing, best actress for Danes, best actor for Damian Lewis, best supporting actor for Mandy Patinkin and best supporting actress for Morena Baccarin. The show already won best drama while Danes and Lewis won acting awards.

''Homeland'' Season is set to be aired on January 15th at 9pm ET/PT, only on Showtime.
