'The Walking Dead' Ratings Swings At Its Lowest Since Season 3; Is The Show Having Too Much of Negan?

Since the season 7 premiere of "The Walking Dead" aired, the ratings of the mega-hit TV series started to drop. Last Sunday's episode 5 was recorded to be the show's lowest viewership to date since season 3.

The gory eye-popping debut episode of the current season might have influenced a lot of the viewers to turn their backs. It could also be Negan's character starting to be dragging in most of the episodes. There had been fans who proclaimed to quit on the show in earlier seasons and usually they don't mean it, but it does not look like it this time as what Entertainment Weekly reported.

Season 7 episode 1 titled "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" had been the overall second most watched episode with 17.03 million views, but it dropped to a hurting 12.5 million in episode 2. The slump continued to slash episodes 3 to 5 as viewership dropped to 11.72, 11.4, and 11 million, respectively.

Most probably these figures have already gotten the attention of the producers to get their act together and bring back the interest of the fans. At least, for now, "The Walking Dead" is still by far the most-watched series on Sunday night, according to Movie Pilot.

In season 7 episode 6 titled "Swear", the trailer shows Tara and Heath having a deep conversation about what they have become after their first attack on the Saviors and still not knowing what happened to Glenn and Abraham. It seems like another action-less episode is on the way, but following that is something burning that is yet to happen in episode 7.

A real TWD fan would not despair because there is always one thing that can be expected from "The Walking Dead" - they end the season with a bang. Especially that it would happen before this year ends, don't get surprised if another nerve-racking episode will drive the viewers to get hooked again.
