Brad Pitt has scored a legal victory in the fight for his six children with Angelina Jolie following the decision by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to clear the actor of allegations of physical abuse of one of their kids. Interview with family members did not substantiate the child abuse allegations that are connected with an incident between Pitt and son Maddox aboard a private plane in September 2016.

Gossip website TMZ first reported on this development that gives the "Allied" star a huge advantage in his custody war with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. DCFS concluded that Brad Pitt did not commit physical abuse during an argument with Maddox who was adopted by Jolie and Pitt. Angelina claimed that Brad intentionally hit the boy.

Angelina Jolie has asked the court to give her a sole custody of their children who include Shiloh Nouvel, Maddox Chivan, Zaharah Marley, Pax Thien, Vivienne Marcheline, and Knox Leon. California judges favored the position of Brad Pitt who wants joint custody.

An agreement has been set by Brad Pitt and Angelina in which the children stay in their mother's custody. Therapeutics visits are okayed with their father. According to Entertainment Online, the temporary voluntary agreement was made without the involvement of childcare professionals.

In a statement, the DCFS said that "she [Angelina Jolie] felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement." The DCFS has expressed its satisfaction that "the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal."

Peter Walzer, a divorce lawyer, commented that a divorce court judge has the legal role in approving a final custody arrangement for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's kids. Joint custody is often favored by divorce courts in California.
