Xiaomi Mi Mix is a revolutionary ceramic smartphone that is practically bezel-less. The phone is going on sale in China next month for over $500.

Xiaomi Mi Mix is a smartphone that looks like it's been taken out of a sci-fi movie. The Android phablet's screen to body ratio is 91.3 per cent, meaning it looks almost bezel-less in any of the top sides. The 6.4 inch smartphone will be released this November 4 in China for ¥3,499 or $516. The spec is pretty 'spec'-tacular. It has a 17x9 display with curved corners of the screen. The front facing camera is at the bottom of the bezel. With its almost bezel-less design, Xiaomi Mi Mix experience is immersive.

The guts of Xiaomi Mi Mix features the latest Snapdragon 821 chip used by Google Pixels as well. The smartphone has 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. It has 192Hz or 24-bit DAC chip for better audio. The higher end variant looks pretty much the same other than its 18-karat gold lining the camera and the fingerprint sensor. It also has 4,400mAh battery, 16 megapixels back-facing camera with phase-detect auto-focus.

The Chinese company collaborated with Philippe Starck in designing this revolutionary phone. The french designer was heavily involved in conceptualising the device's look and feel. The Infrared proximity sensor was replaced by ultrasound sensor, which was removed from the top to make space for the bezel-less display. The earpiece, on the other hand, was switched to a cantilevered piezoelectric actuator which vibrates to produce audible sound.

To sum it all up, Xiaomi Mi Mix is a smartphone dream come to life. The smartphone trend today is creating something that is familiar, something that is similar, something that should work because it worked for others. But, Xiaomi wants to be different.
