The 2016 American Music Awards nominees were announced on August 10. A number of artists seemed to be heavy fan favorites since they got nominated in numerous categories.

2016 Artist of the Year Nominees

Artists nominated for this year include Adele, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Carrie Underwood, Drake, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, The Weeknd and Twenty One Pilots, according to ABC News.

2016 New Artists of the Year By T-Mobile

There are five nominees in this American Music Awards category including Alessia Cara, DNCE, Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers and Zayn.

2016 Collaboration of the Year

The nominated songs and artists include "Don't Let Me Down" (The Chainsmoker & Daya), "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" (Meghan Trainor & John Legend), "One Dance" (Drake & Wizkid, Kyla), "Work From Home" (Fifth Harmony & Ty Dolla $ign) and "Work" (Rihanna & Drake)

2016 Tour of the Year

There are only American Music Award nominees for this type of category namely, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen with The E Street Band and Madonna, according to AMNewYork.

2016 Music Video of the Year

The three nominees this year are "Work" (Rihanna &Drake), "Sorry" (Justin Bieber) and "Panda" (Desiigner).

2016 Favorite Pop/Rock Artist of the Year

The nominees for the male category include Drake, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd. The female category includes Adele, Rihanna and Selena Gomez. The Duo or Group category features DNCE, The Chainsmokers and Twenty One Pilots.

2016 Favorite Song & Album - Pop/Rock

The favorite Pop/Rock song nominees are namely "Hello" (Adele), "Love Yourself" (Justin Bieber) and "One Dance" (Drake, Wizkid and Kyla). Best Pop/Rock Album includes "25" (Adele), "Purpose" (Justin Bieber) and "Views" (Drake). The 2016 Top Soundtrack nominees include "Purple Rain", "The Force Awakens" (Star Wars) and "The Album" (Suicide Squad)

2016 American Music Award Winners Announcement

Winners of the 2016 American Music Awards will be announced live on November 20, 8 PM ET in the Microsoft Theater located in Los Angeles, California. ABC will broadcast the upcoming event as it unfolds.
