"The Walking Dead" is said to be one of the most successful long-running series today. However, behind this success lies one of the biggest and most talked-about lawsuits in the history of television.

Frank Darabont, "The Walking Dead" co-creator, has filed a certificate of trial against AMC Monday, The Hollywood Reporter says. Darabont claims that he deserves some of the show's profits after his dismissal from the show. The certificate of trial states that the damages amounted to $280 million.

It was also stated in the lawsuit that the network designed a low license fee formula which allows them to be in advantage than the show's profit participants. According to Gizmodo, Darabont and his CAA agents argue that the co-creator owns a percentage of the licensing deal even after he was fired in the middle of "The Walking Dead" season 2.

Darabont claims that AMC took away his profits by producing the series under the cable network affiliate's license. The report also states that this whole "The Walking Dead" hullabaloo is not new in TV history. It says that some networks opt to put the licensing under the company's name so they can keep the profit. This kind of situation also happened to the "Supergirl" series, which was first shown at CBS and was later on transferred to The CW because the licensing costs more on the former than the latter.

This problem behind "The Walking Dead's" success may stay afloat until its scheduled trial which is said to begin in year 2018. If the judge decides that the case is viable for a court trial, this case might possibly sit beside the $316 million lawsuit "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" producers won from Disney back in year 2010. Nevertheless, the series will be back for a Season 7 premiere on October 23.
