Lenovo-owned Motorola is priming up its groundbreaking budget smartphone which combines high-end technological performance coupled with great quality features with an affordable price tag. On Tuesday this week, the company has announced its latest fourth generation smartphones in the Moto G lineup, namely, the regular Moto G, Moto G Plus, and Moto G Play.

As noted in an article published by Wired Magazine, there seems to be an emerging category of phones called 'budget flagships' which Motorola tries to break into at a time when a number of smartphone makers are starting to elevate the rules of the game in this particular market.

Moto G competes with low-priced handset brands which include LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Honor 5X. The Moto G is budget version to the pricier and more powerful Moto X. The Moto G is the best-selling Motorola handset to date since the insanely successful Razr brand.

Here is a summarized description of each model's features and specs according to Geek, a leading online media outfit specializing on tech-related news and updates:

1. Moto G Play- The modest of all devices in the fourth generation Moto G series which strikes a close resemblance to last year's third-gen Moto G. It is equipped with Snapdragon 410 ARM processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of base storage, a five-inch 720p LCD screen display, and an 8MP camera. The battery interestingly offers longer lifespan with 2800mAh.

2. Standard Moto G- This device is slight upgrade of the 2015 model armed with an Octa-core Snapdragon 617, 2GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p LCD screen, 13MP camera, and 3000mAh battery that comes with Qualcomm Quick Charging. It is slated to arrive with either 16GB or 32GB of base storage.

3. Moto G Plus- This top-tier variant has slighted boosted features and more add-ons. Under the hood is a a Snapdragon 617, 2/4GB of RAM, 16/32/64GB of storage, a 5.5-inch 1080p LCD screen, 3000mAh battery again with Qualcomm Quick Charging, and 16MP camera. A security feature is apparently added which is a front-facing biometric sensor below the screen.

The budget smartphones aren't going to the US market just yet. Lenovo seemed to be focusing the launch of its Moto G lineup in emerging markets like Brazil and India, The Verge reported. The device is slated to arrive the British shores in June with start-up price of £169 (about $243) for the Moto G and £199 ($286) for the G Plus. There's now official pricing for G Play yet but the Chinese tech giant indicated that G Play pricing will vary per region.
