The shocking exit of Zayn Malik from the 'One Direction' band about 12 months ago was a surprise for fans and they were extremely disappointed with his exit. However, the other band members continued with their performances as a band. But, the team has chosen the Billboard music awards event to pay tribute to their co-performer Zayn Malik.

According to reports, the musical band received an award for the best group and Liam took the opportunity to commemorate "brother Zayn" on behalf of the band. The band was also awarded with the 'Best Duo or Group' and 'Top Touring Artist,' last year and they were nominated for both the categories this year as well.

The Billboard award this year could be extremely special for 'One Direction' as they have the chance of creating history, if they manage to win the 'Top Duo/Group' category once again. They would be surpassing 'Destiny's Child', which would be a feat in itself, especially at a time when the band is not together.

As for fans, they really hope that 'One Direction' wins the award and expectations are also high that the boys would unite to collect it on stage. In the past as well, fans did expect the group to unite to collect the Brit awards but, unfortunately, it was only Louis and Liam who attended the event.

Considering the nominations, One Direction has a higher probability to win in the 'Top duo or Group' category with lesser competition as compared to the 'Top Touring artist category' competing with the likes of Madonna, Taylor Swift, U2 and Rolling Stones. However, fan interaction, as per Billboard, plays a crucial role in deciding the finalist - a metric where One Direction tops it all.

The Billboard Music awards would be screened in Las Vegas. And, with all four members of 'One Direction' being in L.A., it provides an excellent opportunity for them to re-unite and show to the world that they still are the band of brothers.
