Apple is no stranger to using Samsung parts in its devices. However, the use of OLED display panel from Samsung is a first. With the help of OLED panel, iPhone 7 will sport a much brighter and crisper display in its flagship handset.

According to reports from NBD Daily Economic News, Samsung Display has already entered in a contract with Apple for supply of OLED panels. It is also speculated that Samsung will focus on 5.5-inch screen for the Apple phones.

As iPhone prepares to up the ante with high quality display, it could bring the company's star product back in business after witnessing a year of sluggish sales.

The reports of Apple dealing with Samsung to create OLED displays goes way back in January 2015, as reported by NBD. Back then, it was reported that according to the publication's "South Korean media" contacts, Samsung was expected to invest over $7 billion in OLED manufacturing unit and equipment, all for Apple.

The noticeable shift towards OLED panel had prompted LG Display to invest approx. $9 billion in the upcoming years. This shift was provoked by Apple.

With iPhone 7, Apple is expected to plant its feet firmly into the smartphone industry for being a significant player in creating larger yet ergonomic handsets each year. Apple fans and enthusiasts wait for more update on the upcoming Apple iPhone 7 as the internet spews one rumor after another. It is yet to be seen how much of it is true, while Apple maintains its silence over the matter.
