On Wednesday, NBA star Lamar Odom got a visit from the Rev. Jesse Jackson, after the news release that he had got hospitalized for a drug overdose. Jackson met Odom's estranged wife, reality star Khloe Kardashian, and then spoke to the press just outside the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

However, his "words of hope" created many conflicting reactions, according to hngn.

"Khloé is by his side," Jackson told the Associated Press . "He is unconscious but apparently the doctors say he's recovering. I don't know how long it will take, he is in a very difficult situation and we can only at this time pray for his recovery."

"We're just holding hands and hoping he will bounce back," Jackson continued. "Apparently the doctor felt he was much better off today than yesterday, at least there's some responsiveness now. Yesterday he was probably almost totally unresponsive and now there are signs of responsiveness and to that extent, that's good news."

Whatever Jackson said seemed to be in sync with a couple of reports from Khloé and her sister Kim Kardashian-West. They both had said that they felt him squeeze their hands, although the doctors dismissed the report as a merely "involuntary movement" on Odom's behalf.

Odom is still on life support, in a very critical state.

Odom, a two-time NBA champion and winner of the 2011 Sixth Man of the Year award, and father of two young children from a previous relationship was given some soothing and glowing words from Rev Jackson.

"We felt inspired by his presence, we just had prayer," Jackson said. "Know that we get knocked down sometimes, we get back up again. The ground is no place for a champion, champions rise and we hope that he will somehow garner that championship spirit sand rise again."
