On Sunday, a frazzled Ben Affleck stepped out in his "first Stateside sighting" since he announced his break with wife Jennifer Garner, according to people.

He wasn't wearing a wedding ring, but photographs of him show some new ink on the lower side of his back. It is not clear whether it's a temporary tattoo or body art. Still, the Oscar winner's tattoo isn't completely hidden.

There is one dolphin on his right hip, which covers the name of his high-school sweetheart. It has been seen with "barbed wire" across his right bicep, with a large design featuring a fish and a skull and crossbones on his right arm, as well as some initials on his shoulder blade.

Some of his tattoos were inscribed when he had been a teenager. "I was young. It was fun and cool. I'm sorry now, but it is a good lesson in decisions that have important and long repercussions," he said in 2000.

He had spent some time in Bahamas with their three children when he was on an emotional post-split vacation, as well as a solo weekend in Los Angeles. Affleck the actor went to Atlanta, where Garner is shooting the film 'Miracles from Heaven'.

Back in Los Angeles, he picked up an iced coffee, in a Detroit City T-shirt, jeans, black boots and a leather jacket. He looked scruffy and messy, with graying hair and beard, as well as his car keys, while he emerged from a coffee shop.

On Saturday, he was spotted going by on his motorbike as well as a long drive in his SUV, looking "sad and despondent", according to dailymail.

An inside source said: "Ben is distraught over the divorce and is having a very hard time. He doesn't have a lot of close friends to lean on right now, and Jennifer has always been the one he goes to."

On June 30, the couple announced the divorce: "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce.

"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.

"This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
