The fast-paced fashion world has had to take a big break for the past couple of months as the Coronavirus spread to practically every corner of the world and the fashion capital of Italy - Milan. Some much-anticipated fashion events have had to be postponed and even canceled as health organizations instructed that gatherings will be held for no more than 50 people at a time.

While the February fashion week went on as scheduled, upcoming events in March through May are likely to be canceled if the Coronavirus continues to infect people.

Fashion powerhouses in the US who returned from the Milan fashion week were instructed to self-quarantine, and designers have announced they are postponing and delaying their fashion shows. So, which shows have been affected by the virus? Here are the biggest fashion shows that will not take place as scheduled:

Chanel

The French fashion design powerhouse was scheduled to have a showing of its Métiers d'Art collection in Beijing in May. With recent developments, Chanel has announced that the show has been postponed, along with its London Haute Couture show that was set to take place in June. However, Chanel has yet to announce whether it will postpone its May show in Capri, Italy.

Versace

With its headquarters in Milan, Versace has announced that it will not hold its shows as scheduled. Versace was scheduled to hold a show in the US on May 16, and as of now, there is no new date for the show.

Prada

The fashion company beloved by many celebs, like Nicole Kidman who you can read about on GoLookUp, boasts its own unique style; Prada is one of the fashion companies that have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. The Prada show was set for May 21 in Tokyo Japan but has been postponed for the time being.

Hermès

The high-end fashion company was set to hold its Hermès Resort show in London on April 28. The French-based fashion designers have delayed the show for a later time to be announced as things get clearer.

Armani

With Italy being on lockdown, Italian fashion houses, like Armani, have taken quite a blow. The fashion powerhouse was set to hold a cruise show in Dubai in April, but for the time being, the show has been postponed to November.

The Armani company, which is based in Milan, told The Hollywood Reporter that the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in order to protect all the industry stakeholders, employees, and guests who would be involved in the trip" amid the COVID-19 global outbreak.

Burberry

The Burberry show was scheduled for April 23 and it was set to be held in Shanghai. In January, Burberry speculated that the Coronavirus will impact its shows, and they were right; as of now, there in no new date for the Burberry show.

Max Mars

Taking things a step further, the Max Mara company has decided to cancel its show entirely; the Max Mara show was set for May 25 but the St. Petersburg, Russia show has been canceled.

Ralph Lauren

One of the most anticipated shows - the Ralph Lauren New York show, has also been canceled. The April show will likely not be scheduled for a new date, but things remain to be seen.

Dior

With the Coronavirus spreading through France, Dior has made a decision to reschedule their Leece, Italy show. Dior has state that it postponed the fashion show as a means to "ensure the safety of all its employees, collaborators and guests."

Gucci

The Gucci headquarters are located in Florence, Italy, and the company has joined the ranks of other fashion houses as it postponed its May 18, San Francisco show. The Gucci Cruise fashion show has been postponed to 2021 for a date yet to be set. A Gucci representative has told The Hollywood Reporter that "A decision on the new timing and location of the show will be announced at a later date once the situation becomes clearer. At this time, our thoughts are with all of those affected around the world."

Met Gala

While not being a fashion house, the Met Gala is arguably the biggest fashion event of every year. The star-stated show boasts lavish themes and costumes that continue to stun spectators every time. With instructions prohibiting the gathering of more than 50 people at a time, this year's Met Gala, scheduled to be held on May 4, in New York has been postponed. The Louis Vuitton sponsored event was set to have a new theme of "About Time: Fashion and Duration,", and boy what times these are for the fashion industry.

The Coronavirus has proved that no industry is immune to a global pandemic, even a stable industry like fashion. With shows being canceled and postponed, it is difficult to say how delays will impact fashion houses, both in the US and abroad. Hopefully, the dust will settle soon and a cure for the small and deadly virus will be found.
