Anniversaries are a time for you and your beloved to look back with gratitude and look forward with anticipation as you continue your lives together. This does not always require the spending of lots of money since you can make your celebration memorable with some of these tips and ideas listed here.

A gift they will treasure

Anniversary gifts can be a challenge because you really want to get this right. This is a gift that you want your partner to treasure. If you need gift ideas, there is an anniversary gifts by year list that links modern and traditional gifts to each anniversary from your first anniversary right through to your celebration of 60 years wed. Consider a gift that touches the heart, like jewellery or a home décor item that they can see as a symbol of your love each day of the year.

Renew wedding vows

When a couple has been married for many years, they will have had to deal with some of life's more challenging curveballs.  If you are now a happily married couple after a period of strife caused by illness, unemployment or an extra-marital affair, you may want to renew your vows to each other. This celebration is also popular for milestone moments such as those married for 20, 25 or 50 years. By reconnecting with your partner in such a meaningful way, you make a public announcement to the new generation of the family, born after your marriage.

Share your love

If you are a couple who are passionate about a particular cause or charity, consider celebrating your day by volunteering time in support of their aims. If you are lucky enough to have been helped by others to be the happy couple you are today, sharing your good fortune by volunteering is a way to share your gratitude whilst at the same time sharing information about the very issues that mean so much to you both.

Staycation or vacation

Vacations as an anniversary gift may be limited to the milestone years due to issues with work and finance but do try and take time away from your everyday home routine, even if it is just a couple of nights away.  Take a train to a place a couple of hours away that you like and enjoy being tourists and staying in a nice hotel. Take in an art exhibition, a concert or a movie and leave all talk of troublesome issues to one side for the duration.

Milestone anniversary party

Whilst anniversaries are generally personal for couples, connecting with family and friends who support you as a couple and a growing family is a lovely way to acknowledge that your relationship has not blossomed in a vacuum. Here you can include photos from the wedding that wider family and friends may not have seen. You could offer the same dishes you had at your wedding reception and use the same colour palette in your décor.

Recreate your first date

Whether your first date was fireworks and love at first sight or a slow-burner, it is fun to take a trip down memory lane. If you went out for a meal, go back to the same café or restaurant if it still exists. If you went to the movies, see if you can find the same movie again online and create an evening with the same snacks you had at the time for an evening where you can reminisce about what you talked about and how you knew you would go on a second date.
