A recent study indicates that mothers get less sleep when there are kids in the house. The study states that a woman's sleep is affected when kids are around and surprisingly this does not affect men.

According to a report, this preliminary research has been presented at the 69th Annual Meeting of American Academy of Neurology in Boston. The recent study also indicates that not only are women lacking in sleep but there are also reports of the women feeling exhausted all day.

The observational study involved 5,800 individuals interviewed over the phone. The questions include how long these respondents usually sleep. There are also several factors being considered in the interview, like the number of children in the house, race, age, marital status and body mass index.

The researchers found out that having children has been the main reason for women to lack sleep especially with women ages 45 and younger. There is a 50 percent sleep deprivation towards every woman who has a child in the house.

A report also indicated that researchers were able to find out that 45 percent of women with children sleep for seven hours compared to those without children. Women with children also reported being exhausted 14 days within a month compared to those without children who reported that they get tired all day 11 days in a month.

In the meantime, men do not get affected especially with their sleep even if there are children in the house. The same observational research has been done to the men. The same factors were being looked into for men and it was found out that sleep is the same with men even with or without kids.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kelly Sullivan, the lead author of the study shared that getting enough sleep helps in a person's health. Sleep is important for the body in order for it to function properly.
