LG Executives Charged For Vandalizing Samsung Washing Machines At a Berlin Trade Show

An LG Electronics executive has been indicted by prosecutors in South Korea for vandalizing high-end Samsung washing machines, according to a report. Jo Seong-jin, head of LG's home appliances division, is accused of damaging four Samsung Crystal Blue washing machines at a Berlin Trade show in September, The Verge reported.

Samsung has accused two other LG execs on the similar charges.

The dispute has been continuing for months. Reports say that LG initially agreed to pay for the damage but Samsung filed a lawsuit citing damage and defamation. LG, in turn, also countersued Samsung, accusing it of evidence tampering.

According to LG lawyers, there's not enough evidence to warrant a conviction. "It is questionable whether there is sufficient evidence to prove that the president of a global company deliberately destroyed the machines where employees of the competing company were present," said Jo's lawyer Ham Yoon-keun, according to WSJ.

In December, LG had said that it cannot be help responsible for Samsung's shoddy craftsmanship. "Unlike washing machines from other companies, a certain company's washing machine model was particularly weak on the hinges," LG was quoted saying to WSJ.

The retailing price for Samsung Crystal Blue washing machines are approximately $2,700.
