Kpop News: BIGBANG Chosen As Korea's National "Creative Icon"

Kpop group BIGBANG has been recognized to be the national 'Creative Icon' of South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. BigBang will be the new ambassador of the ministry's newest slogan 'Creative Korea'. This was announced on Monday, August 2.

"Big Bang will be promoting the 'Creative Korea' brand worldwide in its new role as a Creative Icon," said the Culture Ministry. "The group will have a big impact on promoting Korea's image."

Being the creative ambassador, BIGBANG will be part  in the Rio Summer Olympics this August as well as the 2018 PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games Olympics.

"Creative Korea" is the result of the ministry's efforts to rebrand Korean's national identity and will replace "Dynamic Korea" and "Imagine Your Korea" as the country's slogan. "Creative Korea" 

Big Bang is an iconic K-pop group that has gained a global popularity. The Kpop group just recently celebrated their 10th year anniversary, holding various performances and exhibitions in previous months. They hold tours in Japan last month attracted some 165,000 concertgoers, according to management agency YG Entertainment.


Big Bang is currently preparing for an upcoming multimedia exhibition at S-Factory in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, from Aug. 5 to Oct. 30, and for a concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Aug. 20.
