On March 21, Cupertino-based tech giant Apple will be holding a special event to purportedly to unveil a number of highly anticipated gadgets that tech buffs go crazy for- the palm-sized iPhone SE, iPad Air 3 or Apple Watch 2. However, the grand launching of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus would have to wait until September 2016.

Speculations abound in rumor land until the new iPhones get publicly revealed this fall. Below, is a brief round-up of controversial leaks, rumors, and predictions from tech analysts and observers largely based on Apple's past behavior.

Release date

According to a report by PC Advisor, the release of Apple's new flagship is most likely to take place in September. After all, the company's current and previous flagship devices were all released in fall on the same date- September 9. But the iPhone maker might need to adjust their schedule either on the 6th or the 13th due to some earthquake-caused delays in production to Taiwan-based Apple supplier of smartphone processors.

Missing Features

Business Insider just revealed snapshots of leaked iPhone 7 case thanks to Steve Hemmerstoffer, a tech observer who cemented his reputation as a leaker of gadget secrets. Among the rumored specs that have been constantly discussed online, two rumors appeared to have caught the observers' attention. The media news outfit revealed that Apple is bound to kill the headphone jack in favor of wireless connection using the lightning port and Bluetooth headphones. MacRumors also noted that the company would probably intend to edge out its fierce rivals in camera wars with a dual-lens camera with DSLR-like performance quality that works pretty well even in dim light conditions.

Other Rumored Specs

MacWorld also has plenty of info to share to online rumor-mongering and future-gazing crowd. In their own roundup and analysis of persistent iPhone rumors, the new devices will probably get a longer battery life than the current flagship although some observers contend that a significantly longer battery life is not necessarily a good tradeoff for other exciting features that Apple offers. A high definition screen resolution is another possible feature. As for storage offering, iPhone 7 and its variant could start at 32GB- a staple storage capacity feature across newer smartphone models.

September is still a long wait and rumors may change as stream of new updates come in. As of the moment, it's much safer not to get too excited with the hype until we officially know the tweaks this fall.
