One baby with a baffling facial feature was recently born in Peru.

He has no nose, and just two tubes that help his breathing, according to the Daily Mail.

The baby with the Patau Syndrome was given birth in the city of Chimbote in the west Peruvian province of Santa.

The syndrome is caused whenever there is extra genetic material from chromosome 13 in some or all cells, which is a chromosomal abnormality.

The baby's mother Lorena Rodriguez-Zavaleta, 20, and the father have named him Angelito, or little angel.

He can be fixed with some plastic surgery when he grows a little older, said his doctors, averring that he will appear "normal," as if there was nothing inconsistent about him.

His pediatrician Jose Castillo said Angelito confirmed that he is doing well and sustaining his food, while his heart and respiratory systems are normal, according to the HNGN.

"He doesn't have difficulty breathing now, but he will need plastic surgery," said the hospital's neonatal care boss Carlos Arrestegui Ramos.
