"Winds of Winter," the sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series written by George R.R. Martin, will be coming out in 2016.

According to the editor of Ediciones Gigamesh, who owns the rights to publish the books in Spanish, Alejo Cuervo, the long-awaited book will be coming out in Spanish next year, a report from LosSieteReinos stated. Cuervo did not reveal the exact release date but joked that the only thing that could stop the book from coming out in 2016 is if a meteor were to fall.

Here is the translated version of Cuervo's interview with Spanish radio station, El món a RAC1:

Host: And the sixth book will come out...?

Cuervo: It's planned for next year.

H: In English, you mean, but, in Spanish, when would that be?

C: They have promised us that they will give us the manuscript before the release date in English, but it won't be a big difference (between the two dates).

RH: But it will also be during the next year for sure, won't it?

C: Yes. Well, for sure... unless a meteorite falls.

Fans are hoping that the book will be released before the premiere of "Games of Thrones" season six. The HBO series is based from Martin's books.

Martin is very aware that his fans are upset at the amount of time that has lapsed between his fifth and sixth books. His fifth book, "A Dance of Dragons," came out in 2011.

Martin explained that he had to take a break from writing in order to do "Games of Thrones" and appearances/events. At the beginning of this year, Martin revealed that he has canceled several events in order to work on the book.

Meanwhile, filming for season six of "Games of Thrones" has already begun. Season six will premiere sometime next spring.
