Scott Walker: Wall On U.S-Canada Border Is 'Legitimate'

A wall has to be built in the US-Canada border, said the GOP candidate, Scott Walker. It is the "longest international border in the world at 5,525 miles," according to the Associated Press.

So far, issues on illegal immigration and border control have been commented on by Republican candidates, who have paid attention mainly on the Mexican border.

Walker explained that as the US is expending millions on airport security, and the Mexican border ports, it "only makes sense" to keep a watchful eye on the Canadian border as well, according to Washington Post.

It would help to keep out illegal immigrants, terrorists and criminals from the country, he said.

Hence, it was a "legitimate" topic, he said. He clarified his comment later, according to hngn.

"It starts with securing the homeland. It's not just about building a wall and securing our borders. It's also about making sure our intelligence community has the ability for counterterrorism and the ability to go after the infrastructure they need to protect us," he said.
