Amazon.com will venture into the wine, beer and spirits industry.

The online retailer announced that it will be extending Prime Now, which is the company's one- and two-hour delivery service - to Seattle and three other cities in Washington, where the company's headquarters are located.

"Customers love the convenience of one-hour delivery and we're excited to bring Prime Now to our hometown customers in Seattle and surrounding areas," said Stephenie Landry, director of Amazon's Prime Now service.

The service will also be adding wine, beer and spirits deliveries for members living in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland zip codes.

Prime Now, which is available only for Amazon Prime members, offers free two-hour deliveries and one-hour deliveries for $7.99 between 8 a.m. and midnight, seven days a week. This is the first time that Amazon is offering alcohol deliveries. The company did not say if they will be delivering alcohol in the other cities that already have Prime Now.

Members can use Prime Now by downloading the app on their mobile phones. Amazon Prime is a yearly membership that offers free two-day delivery on numerous items for $99 a year. Amazon Prime members also have access to the Instant Video Streaming and the Kindle Lending Library services.

Prime Now was launched last year in Manhattan, NY and is also available in Atlanta, GA, Austin, TX, Baltimore, MD, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Indianapolis, IN, and Miami, FL. Amazon stated that the service will be extended to many more cities before the end of the year.

According to analysts, reported by Newsweek, Amazon has roughly 40 million Amazon Prime members throughout the world.
